This video introduces you the features of Shimadzu MALDI-8020 and the universal sample preparation methods on MALDI-8020. MALDI-8020 is a compact benchtop linear mode MALDI-TOF mass spectrometer from Shimadzu. Its strength lies in its load-lock chamber system for rapid sample target introduction within a few minutes, and 200 Hz solid-state laser for high-speed data acquisition in a few seconds. Moreover, it is equipped with the TrueClean™ technique, an automated UV laser source cleaning technique, to minimize the risk of source contamination over time and ensure a robust instrument performance. These features make MALDI-8020 an ideal choice for today’s increasingly demanding laboratories, such as small molecule and intact protein mass measurement, peptide mass finger printing for simple protein ID confirmation, in-source decay (ISD), and polymer distribution analysis. MALDI-8020 is compatible with the FlexiMass™ series of microscope slide-format sample targets. The individually barcoded, single-use FlexiMass™-DS slides provide a convenient solution for more routine or defined workflows. Alternatively, the reusable stainless steel FlexiMass™-SR sample targets provide a cost-effective, longer-term solution to sample preparation. The MALDI target plate must be clear before sample spotting and always handle the plate edges by your glove’s fingers.
