On 23 October, Shimadzu (Asia Pacific) proudly hosted Shimadzu Food Summit 2024 — the first-ever Asia edition — at the prestigious Four Seasons Hotel. With over 130 industry experts and key opinion leaders, the event featured an action-packed agenda aimed at fostering collaboration and driving innovation, setting the stage for transformative advancements in the Asia Pacific's food industry.

For the past 13 years, the flagship event, Shimadzu Global Food Summit, has led the way in exploring global food trends. Now, as we enter the Asian Century, the focus on Asia is timely and strategic to capitalize on its transformative growth as the largest region in the global food market.

Shimadzu's World Lab Network On Food Sustainability

At the Summit, we were thrilled to launch Shimadzu World Lab Network on Food Sustainability, which underscores our commitment to not only discuss but also actively collaborate and drive impactful change. This initiative embodies our dedication to forging a global network that connects all Shimadzu collaborative laboratories, leveraging one another’s expertise and resources to drive global innovations.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Signing Ceremony featured four Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) from S&B Foods, LPPOM MUI, the Philippine Institute of Pure and Applied Chemistry (PIPAC), and Reference Testing and Agrifood Quality Consultancy (RETAQ).

Industry-Leading Insights Into The Latest Developments

A major highlight of the event was the keynote address by Dr. Hou XinPing, who emphasized the critical role of AOAC SEA in developing standards for food analysis, stressing the importance of the harmonization of regulations and standards in terms of food safety.

Esteemed speakers from across Asia were also invited to share their expertise on food safety and food quality. Particularly, pivotal issues such as PFAS analysis, ethylene oxide detection, mineral oil contamination, halal analysis, functional foods, and aroma analysis supporting sustainable deliciousness in food were actively discussed.

In another standout presentation, Sateesh Tummala, Deputy General Manager of Shimadzu (Asia Pacific), introduced Shimadzu Living Laboratory, which paves the way for Digital Transformation (DX) using AI-enabled instruments and informatics to integrate laboratory workflows from sample receipt to data management. Providing the most advanced yet practical workflow, Shimadzu Living Laboratory can effectively automate and simplify routine operations, streamlining processes for users to Work from Anywhere.

For a deeper dive into Shimadzu’s solutions, the Summit featured an exclusive experience zone for an immersive look at Shimadzu's state-of-the-art technologies tailored for food safety, quality, and R&D.
