Analysis of Wear Metals in Lubricant Oil (ICP-AES)
Analysis of wear metals in lubricants is used to determine the condition of engines and other equipment that use lubricant oil. These are analyzed using rotating electrode optical emission spectrometry, atomic absorption spectrometry, or ICP optical emission spectrometry. Of these methods, ICP optical emission spectrometry enables the analysis of multiple elements quickly and precisely by simply diluting the samples.
In this example, ICP optical emission spectrometry is used to analyze lubricant oil. Since lubricant oil has high viscosity, it is diluted before analysis. In this case, it was measured after diluting by 20 times with kerosene.
ICP Optical Emission Spectrometer
Offering the highly sensitive simultaneous analysis of metals and inorganic components, without pretreatment, this instrument supports an extensive range of analysis from trace levels to high concentrations. It supports analysis for research and development, automated analysis for production control, and water-quality monitoring analysis for environmental management.
