The newly established KNIF2E facility—Kasanggang NICER in Functional Food Excellence—at the University of San Agustin marks a significant milestone as the first functional food laboratory in the Philippines, setting a new benchmark in food science and innovation.

Equipped with leading-edge Shimadzu instruments, including GCMS, thermal analyzer, and atomic absorption spectrophotometer, this state-of-the-art lab is positioned to accelerate research efforts in functional food development.

Through Shimadzu World Lab Network, the University of San Agustin will also be connected to renowned research centers such as National Agriculture and Food Research Organization (NARO) in Japan and NSTDA Characterization and Testing Service Center (NCTC) in Thailand. These connections will offer strategic opportunities to advance research not only in food science but also in natural products and drug discovery, thereby fostering innovation, collaboration, and contributions to make an impactful difference in the society.
