In a new step towards sustainability, King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) and Shimadzu (Asia Pacific) have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) titled “Pioneering Sustainable Innovation: Green Tech Commitment for the Well-being of Mankind”.
Aiming to address pressing global issues such as energy, environment, and climate change, the MoU seeks to accelerate Green Transformation (GX) by facilitating the development of research methods on biopharmaceutical characterization, energy and environment analysis, climate change analysis and testing, and green technology, net-zero carbon, and carbon neutrality analysis, thus advancing our shared vision of a sustainable future.
The MoU was signed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suvit Saetia, President of KMUTT, and Mr. Prem Anand, Managing Director of Shimadzu (Asia Pacific) Pte. Ltd. Dr. Kanyawim Kirtikara, Senior Vice President for Research and Innovation at KMUTT. Mr. Yasunori Yamamoto, President & CEO of Shimadzu Corporation-Japan, witnessed the signing. Mr. Phoosak Hirunyatrakul, Managing Director of Bara Scientific Co., Ltd., the sole distributor of Shimadzu’s scientific instruments and engineering testing equipment in Thailand, also attended the ceremony.
The MoU builds on the successful collaboration between KMUTT, Shimadzu (Asia Pacific) Pte Ltd., and Bara Scientific Co., Ltd., which began in 2021. Over the years, this partnership has yielded significant outcomes, including academic support in technology transfer, personnel development, and joint research initiatives. This agreement will deepen the close relationship between KMUTT and Shimadzu, as exemplified by past collaborations such as the World Lab Network for Sustainable Pharma with the Biopharmaceutical Characterization Laboratory (BPCL) at KMUTT during the Shimadzu 9th Global Pharma Summit in Singapore.
Shimadzu offers state-of-the-art equipment and advanced technologies to support BPCL’s service capabilities in KMUTT. This includes a range of high-performance instruments such as the LCMS-Triple Quadrupole, LCMS-QTOF, HPLC, UV-Vis Spectrometer, and MALDI-TOF-MS*, among others. The integration of Shimadzu's cutting-edge technology, including the Ultra-Fast Mass Spectrometry (UFMSTM) and Analytical IntelligenceTM , enhances BPCL's ability to conduct high-precision analyses, thereby contributing to advancements in biopharmaceutical and drug development research.
